MinterEllison moved beyond simply adopting AI by embedding it directly into legal practice through an internal accelerator program developed with legal AI platform Legora.
Rather than treating AI as a standalone tool, the firm focused on integrating it into the way legal work is performed and client value is delivered. The program embedded Legora directly into practice teams, giving lawyers and consultants dedicated time to identify practical use cases and develop AI-enabled workflows for their teams.
What began as a pilot quickly evolved into a broader capability-building initiative. In the first program alone, participants identified more than 150 use cases across practice groups, creating a growing library of AI-powered workflows now used across the firm.
The cohort-based model also helped accelerate adoption. Participants returned to their teams not only with practical workflows, but as advocates for change, helping spread new ways of working team by team across the organisation.
Unexpectedly, the program also created stronger collaboration across practice areas, with teams adapting and building on workflows developed elsewhere in the firm.
Importantly, MinterEllison positioned the initiative as an investment in people, not just technology. The goal was to build workforce capability and help employees develop the skills needed to work effectively alongside AI in the future of legal services.
By combining AI capability-building with peer-led learning and practical experimentation, MinterEllison demonstrates how organisations can embed AI in ways that strengthen workforce skills, collaboration and long-term organisational capability.
“I firmly believe that our people are central to this journey. By investing in everyone’s capability, we can ensure each person has the opportunity to build a rich, rewarding, and sustainable career.”
