Thorough Consultation a Reform Recipe to Repeat
22 December 2010
The release by the federal government of the reports by the Policy Transition Group (PTG) on the proposed resource taxation reforms are an important basis for detailed consideration and ongoing consultation, BCA Chief Executive Katie Lahey said.
“The PTG consultative process has been an essential step in improving government, business and community understanding of what are complex tax policy issues,” Ms Lahey said.
“The BCA welcomes the government’s decision to establish an Implementation Group to facilitate further consultation on the detailed design and administration of legislation for the final proposed measures.
“It remains critical the government seriously engages in consultation with business and the community to minimise the chances of unintended consequences that might be to the detriment of a stronger economy,” she said.
