Submission on New South Wales rezoning reforms
28 February 2022
The NSW Government have proposed reforms to the planning proposals process (‘rezoning’), which are used to amend height limits, zones, and other planning restrictions for a particular piece of land. These reforms would significantly reduce the time taken to change planning controls. Given the complexity of the NSW Planning System, the Business Council supports reforms to reduce the time taken to get a change in planning controls decided. These reforms should also ensure certainty of requirements upfront, and that agency feedback is coordinated, occurs once, and not duplicative.
