NSW shows leadership again

10 June 2021

Once again the NSW government has led the way with their announcement today to launch a pilot program to welcome back international students, Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.

“International education is one of our biggest exports and is responsible for creating hundreds of thousands of jobs across Australia’s economy.

“This common sense initiative from the NSW government will help ensure Australia maintains its reputation as a world class international education destination.

“Importantly, this sends a signal to students who may already be considering studying elsewhere that Australia remains an attractive option.

“We are also pleased to see that NSW is able to do this without comprising the needs of returning Australians. International student arrivals will be above and beyond the arrivals cap for returning Australians.

“Yet again, NSW is demonstrating the benefits of well-run quarantine and tracing systems.”
