Submission to the New South Wales Ministerial Taskforce on Aboriginal Affairs
08 August 2012
This submission is in response to the Community Discussion Paper, Improving Employment Outcomes for Aboriginal People, released by the New South Wales Ministerial Task Force on Aboriginal Affairs.
Since 2008 the BCA has committed to a number of initiatives aimed at delivering better opportunities and outcomes for Indigenous Australians, in turn benefiting all Australians. These commitments and initiatives reflect a clear view that new approaches are needed to achieve better outcomes for Indigenous Australians, and that business has an important role to play in this regard.
Topics discussed in the submission include:
- improving employment outcomes
- barriers to Indigenous employment
- ingredients for success
- government’s role
The comments provided in the submission reflect the key themes that emerged in feedback provided by BCA member companies through surveys and other forums as they relate to the discussion paper.
The submission includes a copy of the BCA report, Vision and Values: Working Together to Close the Gap.
