Representations on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
15 September 2009
September 2009
BCA President Greig Gailey has written to the Minister for Climate Change and Water Penny Wong, and to the Shadow Minister Assisting the Leader on Emissions Trading Design, Andrew Robb, regarding the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).
Similar letters have also been sent to independent Senators Fielding and Xenophon.
The letters recommend amendments to the CPRS legislation to ensure that the detail of the scheme is right and that its implementation, in the absence of a global price on emissions, minimises the risks of economic shocks and unintended consequences such as job losses.
A poorly designed CPRS will put future investment and economic growth at risk.
