NSW set to re-join the world

15 October 2021

New South Wales is leading the nation and reopening Australia to the world by easing restrictions safely and giving people certainty about the future, Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.

“In return for doing the right thing and getting vaccinated at record levels, people in NSW are being rewarded.

“Removing quarantine for vaccinated and tested international travellers is common sense because vaccines work. Today’s announcements set the state up for a strong recovery and give people a chance to reunite with friends and families overseas.

“This will help send the message to the world that New South Wales is open for new jobs and investment.

“Critically, it will help get Australians home, fix some of the skills bottlenecks that make it hard to get new projects started and attract international students back to the state.

“We also welcome the removal of caps on hospitality venues, meaning businesses can restock, roster staff for more hours and help drive our economic recovery.

“Every state and territory should be acting with the same clarity and purpose to outline their plans to restore peoples’ freedoms, reopen safely and get on with the recovery.

“We can’t risk a situation that sees people free to leave and enter Australia but not move between states.”
