“Gladys Berejiklian has demonstrated a masterful understanding of what it takes to create a better society – strong business investment creating more jobs and better jobs,” Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said following the Premier’s speech to the Business Council in Sydney today.
“Premier Berejiklian understands well that government alone cannot provide meaningful employment for everyone, and that a strong and diverse business sector is the lifeblood of our society as well as our economy.
“The Premier rightly emphasises that collaboration with business, rather than conflict, is the only way to lastingly build a more prosperous and better society for all citizens.
“New South Wales should be a model for the rest of the country. Australians cannot afford to have states constantly jolting business confidence with lazy taxes, like the South Australian bank tax, or partisan squabbling over energy policy.
“I’m heartened that Premier Berejiklian is determined to continue her government’s important work reforming the federation, developing regional communities and investing in infrastructure – all of which add to NSW and Australia’s competitive edge.
“When future generations look back on this time, they will be grateful to this government for making NSW a more liveable and more prosperous place.”
