Towards Sustainable Development: Draft Consultation Report
15 March 2003
Draft consultation report prepared by the Business Council of Australia Sustainable Development Task Force for consultation outlining how leading Australian and global corporations are contributing to sustainable development.
The purpose of this report is to document the broad range of activities and initiatives leading Australian and global corporations are putting in place to improve corporate environmental and social performance and reporting.
The report is designed to ensure government policy and decision making are based on a greater awareness of the extent of corporate environmental and social initiatives. This information can also be used as guidance by corporations developing or reviewing their own approach to sustainable development.
It seeks to define the broad direction in which leading corporations are moving, by setting out the many initiatives being undertaken to improve environmental and social performance and reporting. It also includes short case studies to demonstrate how some of these initiatives are being implemented on the ground.
