The business community today pays tribute to Tim Fischer AC, a great Australian and a true gentleman.

The former Deputy Prime Minister’s passion for regional Australia had no peer.

I had the great honour of working with Tim Fischer on the High Speed Rail Advisory Group. He was collegiate and supportive, and it was a true delight to sit around the table with him.

Tim Fischer’s long-term vision for the country was inspiring. He led with conviction, courage and integrity.

He championed the critical importance of regional Australia and he was instrumental in persuading regional Australians to accept tighter gun control measures.

Australia has lost one of its most iconic leaders and one of its most decent people.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Judy, their two sons, Harrison and Dominic, and their extended family.
