Submission to the Minister for Industry, Science and Resources on the National Innovation Agenda

30 October 2000

Following on from its work at the National Innovation Summit, the Business Council of Australia continues to advocate for strong national leadership to encourage innovation and to spread its benefits.

Our competitors are rising to this task, and in order to match them we need a wholehearted commitment to improve national performance.

If we are to keep our living standards high, Australia needs policies that help generate innovation, both for the individuals who innovate and for the institutions that commercialise their ideas.

The submission states that this will require the same commitment across a range of policy areas as was seen with National Competition Policy, as innovation has similar potential to generate strong growth into the future.
