The Business Council of Australia (BCA) advocates for the efficient and effective delivery of services in the health and care economy and achieving improved outcomes for Australians accessing these services, whilst ensuring funding is sustainable.

A clear plan for the nursing workforce is crucial as we face many immediate and growing challenges in the delivery of care services. The BCA broadly supports the draft vision of the National Nursing Workforce Strategy (Strategy), which sets out the aspirations and desired outcomes for the workforce.

The Strategy should be a holistic, cross-sector examination of nursing occupations within the context of broader labour market demands for the same skills (NDIS, aged care, primary care and tertiary care).

The Strategy should recognise that the nursing workforce is one part of Australia’s health workforce and must be considered in the context of facilitating and improving the broader continuum of care journey.
