Submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Economics Inquiry into Trade Practices Legislation

19 July 2007

This submission, to the Senate Standing Committee on Economics Inquiry into the Provisions of the Trade Practices Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2007 and Trade Practices Amendment (Predatory Pricing) Bill 2007, argues that competition and competition policies are increasingly impacted by and must reflect the influences of global markets and competitors.

It argues that competition laws need to strike a balance between preventing businesses with substantial power from misusing their status, while ensuring that all businesses are able to compete through ordinary business behaviour.
