Submission to the Department of the Environment on the Draft Approval Bilateral Agreements between the Commonwealth, New South Wales and Queensland Governments

This is the Business Council of Australia’s response to draft approval bilateral agreements with New South Wales and Queensland under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (the EPBC Act).

The BCA supports the streamlining of environmental regulation while maintaining high environmental standards.

These draft approval bilateral agreements offer the potential to greatly reduce the regulatory burden on companies without reducing environmental outcomes, though some adjustments are recommended to enhance their effectiveness.
