Submission to ACCC East Coast Gas Inquiry

Australia’s gas markets are critically important to the prosperity of our economy and community.

In 2013, the Business Council established an Energy Working Group to examine key public policy issues in relation to Australia's energy markets. The working group oversaw the development of the report Australia’s Energy Advantages, released in November 2014. The submission draws from that report.

The submission recommends that the COAG Energy Council: prioritise the review and removal of unnecessary regulatory barriers to gas supply; continue working with industry to improve market transparency; and advance gas market reform.
