Submission on the Reducing Australia’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Draft Report

09 December 2013

The Business Council of Australia has lodged a submission with the Climate Change Authority in response to its recently released Reducing Australia’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Targets and Progress Review Draft Report.

The submission reiterates key elements of the BCA’s June 2013 Submission to the Caps and Targets Issues Paper, and urges the Climate Change Authority to consider a range of international emissions reductions action scenarios and Australia’s fair share of any emissions budget in each of these scenarios.

The BCA submission also notes that Australia's -5% commitment more than matches the pledges of other advanced economies and that the conditions needed to trigger consideration of an increase to that commitment have yet to be met.
