Submission on the Corporations Amendment (Improving Accountability on Termination Payments) Bill 2009

The BCA has lodged a submission to the Senate review of the Bill arguing that the proposed laws will make managing termination arrangements more difficult.

There has been no explanation of why the laws apply to ‘key executives’, including overseas executives.

This has the potential to distort the employment market away from the listed sector in Australia, and could create significant unintended consequences for the wider economy.
