The Business Council’s submission to this process did not support setting higher targets for 2030 at this point in time. We noted that the Government’s current target (26-28 per cent) is a credible step and recommend that any increases should occur through the processes established by Paris given the costs and technology uncertainties that exist.  We cited the Bain and Company study that we commissioned as evidence.
