Statement on Jennifer Westacott’s recognition in today’s honours

11 June 2018

Grant King, President, Business Council of Australia,

The Business Council of Australia, its board and members applaud the recognition of Jennifer Westacott in today’s Order of Australia honours.

Throughout her life, Jennifer has been a tireless champion for greater economic and social inclusion.

During her seven years as the Business Council’s chief executive, Jennifer has advocated for policies and ideas that allow businesses to thrive and underpin the lasting economic growth that benefits all Australians.

She is a driving force in ensuring Australia is prepared for the challenges of the future and can remain a competitive, robust and fair nation that continues to punch above its weight.

Jennifer’s intellect is matched by her empathy, and she is a passionate believer in creating greater opportunities and giving back to the community.

Her outstanding contribution to the community includes chairing the Mental Health Council of Australia. She also serves as a non-executive director of Wesfarmers Limited, she is the Co-Chair of the Australia-Canada Economic Leadership Forum, and the Co-Patron of Pride in Diversity.

On a personal note, I have had the privilege of working with Jennifer over the past few years and seen in her first hand all the qualities for which this honour has been awarded. I extend my congratulations to her on this well-deserved recognition of her achievements.
