In a speech to the Odyssey House Business Luncheon in Sydney, Business Council of Australia Chief Executive Jennifer Westacott says the role and responsibility of business in generating community wellbeing goes beyond its corporate social responsibility activities. It is about what business does every day and about how we do it.

In the speech she highlights:

• the ‘big picture’ of how business contributes to a prosperous society
• the role of businesses in creating rewarding and meaningful jobs and decent workplaces, and in providing services
• the role of businesses as global innovators and entrepreneurs, and what that has meant for our standard of living, our advancement and our potential as human beings
• the role of corporate social responsibility.
