Phil came to the Business Council with almost 25 years’ experience working at Parliament House in Canberra.

Over that time he had first-hand access to the people and events that have shaped federal politics while working as a journalist covering eight federal election campaigns, 23 budgets, seven Prime Ministers, 12 Opposition Leaders and one hung Parliament.

Before joining the Business Council, Phil was the Canberra Bureau Chief for The Australian, writing regular columns and managing the daily workload of a large team of reporters, and set the strategy and planning for covering major events.

Phil was previously Bureau Chief for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age as well as Political Editor for the Herald Sun and Political Correspondent and Economics Correspondent for The Age and The Sunday Age.
