National Energy Guarantee consultation paper
I welcome the release of the National Energy Guarantee consultation paper and urge state and federal governments to approach the consultation process in good faith to provide certainty to businesses and households, Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said today.
“We need an energy policy that will ensure security, reliability and affordability while meeting the Government’s emissions reduction target,” she said.
“This is a vital opportunity to put Australia’s climate change and energy policies back on track. We must work through the National Energy Guarantee consultation process sensibly as a nation.
“Business stands ready to work with governments to get the design of the National Energy Guarantee right, and the consultation paper released today is the next step in this process. We encourage the states to put politics aside and work co-operatively with their federal counterparts and business to give the energy sector the certainty it needs.”
