Statement on Meeting with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
03 July 2013
Statement from BCA President Tony Shepherd following meeting with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
BCA Chief Executive Jennifer Westacott and I met with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and members of his team today to discuss issues of concern to business that are impacting Australian competitiveness, confidence and jobs.
It was a constructive meeting. The Prime Minister is keenly aware of the nation's economic challenges, and the need for government to work more closely and cooperatively with business to address it.
We canvassed a range of topics, in particular the urgent need to mark out an agenda focused on our loss of competitiveness and its impact on economic growth and employment.
Everyone present agreed to be part of an ongoing dialogue focused on practical, achievable policy change to improve Australia's global competitiveness.
