On behalf of the members of the Business Council of Australia, President Tony Shepherd has offered his condolences to the family of James Strong.

“James was an outstanding business leader, a great philanthropist, and a terrific supporter of the arts and sport,” said Mr Shepherd.

“He contributed a great deal to the companies he worked for and always saw them as very much a part of the communities they operate in.

“His work with Qantas, Nomura, Woolworths, the Australia Council, Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, the V8 Supercars and several other organisations was fuelled by his passion and his intellect.

“Above all else, James was a thoroughly kind and decent man who will be sorely missed by the business community and all those who had the privilege to work with him.”
