Improving Indigenous Economic and Employment Outcomes: Lessons from Business Experience

26 November 2012

Since 2009 the Business Council of Australia has surveyed its member companies on the contribution they are making to improve the economic capacity and social wellbeing of Indigenous Australians.

Business is ‘learning by doing’ what makes for success in these endeavours.

To build on the insights from this growing body of business experience, in 2012 the BCA’s Indigenous Engagement Task Force commissioned a study to identify the key ingredients of success and to draw out the broader policy lessons.

The report, titled Improving Indigenous Economic and Employment Outcomes: Lessons from Business Experience, makes clear that new models of how business, government and the community come together are needed if significant inroads are to be made into improving Indigenous economic and employment outcomes.

Exploring ways of achieving a new partnership approach will be a key focus of the BCA’s forward work program.
