Helping to build a more resilient Cobargo

18 November 2020

The Business Council of Australia’s BizRebuild initiative is helping Cobargo build back stronger by partnering with the community to deliver a state-of-the-art business and community hub.

Designed to attract new businesses to the region, house vital community amenities and provide premises for those who need them, the hub will be the first commercial property constructed by Australian innovator FORMFLOW using steel supplied by BlueScope.

“The Cobargo business and community hub will help get the town back on its feet and make it more resilient for the future,” BizRebuild chair Sir Peter Cosgrove said.

“Whether it’s bushfires or a global pandemic for communities to thrive they need strong and successful businesses creating jobs – the more, the better.

“The Cobargo hub will be an opportunity for Cobargo to attract new businesses to their doors, let customers in and start getting people back into jobs again.”

Shona Taranto, owner of The Dispensary, who lost her business in the fires and chairs the Cobargo-Quaama Business Recovery Group said the hub would be game changing for the region.

“This project represents growth and renewal for our town, delivering new hope after the loss and devastation of the bushfires.

“With a little hard work, collaboration and good will we are creating new possibilities and opportunities with tailored initiatives that provide immediate relief and lasting benefits for the community.

“It’s a vital initiative and the local business recovery group has been greatly humbled and appreciative of the opportunity to work with the BizRebuild Team.”

“BlueScope is delighted to partner with FormFlow and BizRebuild to help the hard-hit community of Cobargo”, said Matt Lloyde, National Manager Sales, Marketing & Innovation, Lysaght.

“Supporting affected communities such as Cobargo and working with BizRebuild and BlueScope is a privilege,” FORMFLOW Chief Operations Officer Bernard Brussow said.

Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott said that the Business Council’s BizRebuild initiative is here for the long haul to help fire affected communities.

“This is what business does best, working together to get on with it and get communities back on their feet.”

BizRebuild will continue to work with the community develop even more initiatives that suit their needs in the recovery process.

About the innovative FormFlow design

This will be the first commercial property built in Australia using the Lysaght Customflow solution, from BlueScope’s Lysaght division.

This solution combines the novel FormFlow corrugated corner formed from a single corrugated sheet alongside Lysaght’s iconic Custom Orb corrugated profile.

The FormFlow corrugated corner means a more resilient and fire-resistant building.
