The I Want To Work report released today makes welcome proposals to modernise the employment services system, Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.   

“For most people a job is the best road to a dignified and purposeful life and getting employment services right is vital to ensuring as many people as possible get that opportunity. Employment services should provide more support for disadvantaged job seekers.

“We know the system can do much better for disadvantaged job seekers and to help employers source the talent and skills they need. Sensible proposals, like better adoption of technology, can deliver cost savings and better outcomes for people looking for work.

“Business is ready to work with government to consider this report and work towards a more effective system that gives as many people as possible the chance to participate in the workforce.”
