09 October 2012
Business Council of Australia President Tony Shepherd has congratulated Chief Executive Jennifer Westacott on her appointment as a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).
The award is given in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by Ms Westacott to the study and practice of public administration, and for her service to the IPAA over many years.
“This prestigious award reflects Jennifer’s commitment to an independent, strong public service that is focused on delivering policies in the national interest.
“It is worthy recognition of the fantastic work Jennifer has done throughout her career in support of a high performing, duly respected public service.
“For over 20 years, Ms Westacott occupied critical leadership positions in the New South Wales and Victorian governments. She was the Director of Housing and the Secretary of Education in Victoria, and most recently was the Director-General of the New South Wales Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources, where she oversaw significant changes.
“The award acknowledges her considerable contribution to the development of public policy and important reforms that have transformed the way people live, in particular disadvantaged Australians.”
Ms Westacott took up the role at the BCA in April 2011.
