Action Plan for Enduring Prosperity: Realising the Potential of People and Workplaces

28 August 2013

This booklet, Action Plan for Enduring Prosperity: Realising the Potential of People and Workplaces, is a chapter of the full report of the Business Council of Australia’s Action Plan for Enduring Prosperity.

The action plan identifies 93 recommendations across nine policy areas that can deliver prosperity through well-managed growth. This booklet is focused on realising the potential of people and workplaces.

Education and skills are the foundation for growth and prosperity. To compete internationally, our education and training systems need to be preparing people with the competencies, skills and attitudes that make them ready for work. We have to continue to build and grow a skilled and innovative workforce by increasing rates of labour force participation so that we have enough workers with suitable skills and capabilities to meet the demands of a growing economy.

The labour market and especially workplace relations arrangements must permit businesses to grow, innovate and manage their workforce and capital effectively.

The booklet also contains a suggested approach to the phasing of the policy recommendations and an assessment of their ease of implementation versus their overall importance.
