Policy Agenda

Trade and Investment

Trade and investment has played a critical role in Australia’s growth and prosperity as a nation.

Trade and investment increase access to new markets, create employment and improve living standards.

Business and government need to adopt a global outlook in everything they do. Government needs to continue to build on the progress made through free trade agreements, and work with business to realise the benefits of these agreements.

Businesses need to continue to focus on building relationships with FTA partners and accessing global supply chains.

Given that the strength of Australia’s economy is underpinned by openness and connectivity, we work to encourage practices and policies which:

• fostering openness and reciprocity with our key regional and global partners

• promote Australia as a world leader in attracting foreign direct investment

• connecting Australian business with global markets

The BCA Secretariat contact for the trade and investment policy issues is Jason Chai, Senior Adviser.
