Our Policy Committees
Indigenous Engagement Task Force
The Business Council of Australia (BCA) acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land and community. We pay our respect to them and their cultures, and to the elders both past and present.
The Business Council of Australia wants to see all Australians able to benefit from, and contribute to, our nation’s prosperity. That’s why we’ve identified Indigenous engagement as a policy priority, and believe that improving life opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is good for Australia as a whole.
Our Indigenous Engagement Task Force informs and encourages the business community in its efforts to provide employment and other professional and economic development opportunities for Indigenous people and enterprises. In this complex area of policy reform, the task force analyses the valuable lessons being learned by business so we can share them with other sectors, including government.
Priorities
- Inform and encourage BCA members in providing employment and other professional development opportunities for Indigenous people and businesses.
- Continue to support the work of the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council in promoting and helping Indigenous businesses to be part of the mainstream Australian economy.
- Offer business advice and expertise in developing regional strategies to lift education and employment outcomes for Indigenous young people.
