Reconciliation with Indigenous Australians

On social infrastructure, witness the letter from National Australia Bank chief and Business Council of Australia chairman Michael Chaney to Howard, urging him to press business to draft reconciliation action plans aimed at increasing job opportunities and other assistance for indigenous people, to break the cycle of poverty, dependence and violence and affect actual, ongoing change. “[It] is not only a social and economic challenge but a moral imperative,” Chaney wrote.
